The Planning and Zoning Division maintains, reviews, and carries out the Plan of Conservation and Development for the City. To this end, Planning Division staff conducts research and analysis in order to develop policies, plans and ordinances. The goal of these endeavors is to conserve, revitalize and protect economic, social and environmental resources, as well as ensure that development occurs in a manner which is consistent with existing municipal land use, economic, design and environmental policy.
Responsibilities
This Division also does the following:
- Provides general information on and maintains the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map
- Reviews Development projects for compliance with the Zoning Ordinance
- Reviews applications for special exceptions and variances
- Staffs the Planning and Zoning Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals
