Happy Earth Week! In celebration of Earth Day (April 22) we have several events planned for this week.

Today! Tuesday, April 20, 7-8 PM – Beyond Recycling: Zero Waste Swaps At Home. Hosted by the City of Middletown and Russell Library.
City Recycling Coordinator, Kim O’Rourke, will be talking about trash, recycling and zero waste ideas for home. Registration is required, and, unfortunately, is full. Information is available at russelllibrary.libcal.com/event/7564543.

Thursday, April 22, 6-7:30 PM – WASTED: Small Efforts for Big Change. Hosted by the Rockfall Foundation, City of Middletown, Wesleyan Sustainability Office and RiverCOG. Join us for part 5 of a 7-part series of conversations about waste, environmental justice, and how we all play a part in the future of sustainability. This Thursday we’ll hear about environmental advocacy from panelists Lou Rosado Burch (CT Program Director, Citizen's Campaign for the Environment), Marilynn Cruz-Aponte (Assistant Director, East Hartford Department of Public Works), and Kevin Budris (Attorney, Zero Waste Project, Conservation Law Foundation).

Saturday, April 24, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Earth Day Paper Shred Event at Veteran's Memorial Park, Walnut Grove Road. Middletown residents only. 6 box or bag limit. Residential sensitive documents only. No businesses please. All materials will be shredded on site and recycled.
