Public Works Announces
Holiday Hours for the Recycling Center and Sanitation District
The Middletown Public Works Department has announced the holiday schedule for the Middletown Recycling and the Sanitation District Collection.
Recycling Center
The Middletown Recycling Center will be closed Friday and Saturday, Dec. 24 & 25, and Dec. 31 & Jan. 1st .
Sanitation District
The Sanitation District will not be collecting trash and recycling on Friday or Saturday, Dec. 24 & 25 or Friday & Saturday, Dec. 31 & Jan 1, 2022.
Both trash and recycling will be picked up for Friday customers on Monday morning. Carts should be put out Sunday evening. Both Friday and Monday customers will be picked up on those Mondays following the holidays.
The Sanitation District will only pick up the items that fit in the cart. Excess recyclables, including large corrugated boxes, can be brought to the Recycling Center at no charge. Please note wrapping paper is NOT recyclable. Reduce Waste: Use reusable wraps or bags, paper bags or no wrapping paper at all!
Food waste can be segregated and brought to the Recycling Center or to 675 Randolph Road at no charge. Food waste must be loose or in BPI certified compostable bags or paper bags. No plastic bags or containers.
The Middletown Recycling Center is located at 185 Johnson Street and normal operating hours are daily 7 am – 2:45 pm and the first and third Saturday of the month, 7 am – 11:45 am. Please note in January, the Center will only be open the third Saturday of the month.
