PSA - PEER TO PEER BUYING/SELLING SAFETY

The Middletown Police have seen an uptick in the number of thefts and fraud complaints related to online buying/selling platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp. Given the safety considerations of meeting strangers, the Middletown Police encourage all residents to use the Police Department lobby (222 Main Street, Middletown) as a meeting location during these transactions. Our front lobby is open and staffed 24/7 with video surveillance throughout. 

If your transaction will be taking place outside the City of Middletown, consider contacting that local police department to see if they have a similar designated area.
