Public Works Announces Holiday Hours
for the Recycling Center and Sanitation District
Middletown Recycling Center
The Middletown Recycling Center will be closed Saturday, Dec 24 & 31, and Monday, Dec. 26 and January 2.
Middletown Sanitation District
The Sanitation District will be operating regular hours Monday December 26, 2022 and January 2, 2023. Please put your trash and recycling carts out as normal.
The Sanitation District will only pick up the items that fit in the carts. Excess recyclables, including large corrugated boxes, can be bundled and left next to recycling carts or brought to the Recycling Center at no charge.
Food waste should be placed in the designated green bags and placed in the regular trash cart. Residents outside of the Sanitation District can bring food scraps to the Recycling Center or 675 Randolph Road for the City’s food scrap to clean energy program.
Waste generation increases significantly during the holiday season. Please make an effort to reduce the waste generated in your home. Separate your food scraps. Review our recycling guidelines at www.recyclect.com. Avoid using single use items that just get tossed in the trash. If you use wrapping paper, do not place it in the recycling cart. Save it for reuse or recycle it at one of the locations sponsored by the Rockfall Foundation:
- City Hall - 245 deKoven Drive, 2nd floor, Middletown
- cinder+salt - 195 Main St, Middletown
- Reboot Eco - 131 River Rd, Middletown
- Russell Library - 123 Broad St, Middletown
- Ion Market - 575 Main St, Middletown
- Perk On Main - 386 Main St, Middletown
Thank you for thinking about our environment as you celebrate! For more information, contact the Middletown Recycling Coordinator at 860-638-4855 or Recycling@MiddletownCT.Gov.
