Press Release - Shooting Incident on Westfield St

On March 25, 2023 at approximately 11:53am, Middletown Police Officers were called to the area of 473 Westfield Street for a suspicious activity complaint. The caller reported that a silver Nissan Altima pulled into their driveway and two people exited the vehicle stating that someone had shot at them. The vehicle occupants remained on scene and they were not injured. Responding officers located multiple bullet holes in the rear of the Nissan and an undisclosed number of shell casings on Westfield Street.

The operator reported that he was traveling east on Westfield Street when he heard approximately 5 gunshots from the vehicle behind him. Bullets hit the Nissan and the operator pulled into the driveway at 473 Westfield Street. The suspect vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed and the victim could only describe it as a dark colored SUV. There are no suspect descriptors at this time.

This is an active investigation but it is believed that the parties knew one another. This does not appear to be a random act of violence so we have no specific public safety concerns. The names of the vehicle occupants are not being released at this time.

Anyone with information on this shooting incident is encouraged to contact Detective D. Spedding of the Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit at 860-638-4153.
