ERT Search Warrant Service

On Wednesday April 5, 2023 the Middletown Police Department's Emergency Response Team, along with the Major Investigations Unit and Patrol Division, served search and seizure warrants at two undisclosed addresses in Middletown. This warrant service was based on information developed during the investigation of a shooting incident on Westfield Street on March 25, 2023 at approximately 11:53am. During that incident, the occupants of one vehicle shot at occupants of another vehicle on Westfield Street. At that time, information was developed that this was not a random act of violence and it was believed that the involved parties knew one another.   

Both residences were secured without incident. After investigation, two juveniles (ages 15 and 16) were arrested and taken into custody. The names of the juveniles arrested will not be released at this time but they were both charged with the following:

- Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault in the First Degree (2 counts)

- Commission of a Class B Felony with a Firearm 

- Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm

- Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree

- Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle

- Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree
