PRESS RELEASE - ARMED ROBBERY

On October 10, 2023 at approximately 7:14pm, Middletown Police Officers were called to Midtown Threading and Nail Spa, located at 749 Saybrook Road (Tradewinds Plaza), for the report of an armed robbery.

On arrival, Officers learned that a white or Hispanic male entered the nail salon through the front door, displayed a firearm, and shoved an employee out of the way. He then took money from the register and exited through the rear of the business on foot. During the course of the robbery, two adults suffered minor injuries. One of the victims was transported to Middlesex Hospital for the evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. Their names are not being released at this time.  

Middletown Officers set up a perimeter and the Connecticut State Police were alerted to the robbery due to the proximity to Route 9. A Middletown Police K-9 team responded and attempted to track the suspect but they were unable to locate him in the area.  

Information obtained at the scene indicated the suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, a baseball hat and an unknown style mask.
