Press Release - Fatal MVA - South Main St

On December 11, 2023 at approximately 7:46 pm, Middletown Police Officers responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle collision on South Main Street in the area of Round Hill Road.

On arrival, Officers determined that a black sedan was traveling north on South Main Street and struck the rear of a tow truck traveling north as well.

Officers located a 3-year-old child in the rear of the sedan and a female operator trapped in the driver’s seat. The child had no obvious injuries but the female operator was unresponsive. Police Officers and medical personnel removed the driver from the vehicle and attempted life saving measures but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and died on scene.

The child was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford for evaluation. The tow truck operator was not injured during the collision.

The occupant names and vehicle details are not being released at this time.
