Updated Press Release - Fatal MVA - South Main St

On December 11, 2023 at approximately 7:46 pm, Middletown Police Officers responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle collision on South Main Street in the area of Round Hill Road.

On arrival, Officers located two vehicles in the roadway. One vehicle, a black 2017 Nissan Altima bearing CT AZ80663, had extensive front-end damage. The second vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet flatbed tow truck bearing NY 14683TV, had minor damage to the rear of the vehicle.

Officers determined that there had been a 3-year-old child in the rear of the Nissan and they located a female operator trapped in the driver’s seat. The child had no obvious injuries but the female operator was unresponsive. Police Officers and medical personnel removed the driver from the vehicle and attempted life saving measures but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and died on scene. The female operator was later identified as 23-year-old Lindsey Pelletier of 141 Broad Street in New Britain, CT.

Officers confirmed that the child in the vehicle was Pelletier’s son. The minor child’s name is not being released. He was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford for evaluation.

The tow truck operator, identified as 53-year-old Robert Valle of 1 Oldtown Road in Danbury, was not injured during the collision.

During the preliminary investigation, witnesses indicated that Pelletier was traveling north on South Main Street at a high rate of speed before passing a vehicle in front of her using the southbound lane. Pelletier moved back into the northbound lane but it appears she was unable to slow her vehicle quickly enough to avoid striking the rear of the tow truck which was traveling north ahead her.
