The 3rd Annual Gospel Night at Wesleyan University (Thursday February 15, 2024, 6:00-7:30pm, at Wesleyan’s Memorial Chapel) where we will honor Mr. Rembert’s immeasurable contribution to our community, while highlighting gospel music’s significance and impact on communities across Connecticut and beyond. Film screening of the Ashes to Ashes documentary (Saturday, April 13th 2:00pm-4:00pm, Wesleyan’s Ring Family Theatre). This 20-minute film explores the trauma that Mr. Rembert endured in the Jim Crow South and takes us on his journey of recovery, while exploring the role his artwork played in helping him do so. A Q&A session – including members of the Rembert family, Taylor Rees, the filmmaker, and Dr. Shirley Whitaker, the film’s narrator – will follow the screening. Please RSVP using this form.
