News Release - Car Break-ins
On March 25, 2024 the Middletown Police received 21 calls for service related to cars being broken into during the overnight hours. The majority of the criminal activity occurred in the North End of our city. Officers determined that the suspects broke the windows on victim’s cars and rummaged through the vehicles searching for items to steal. Many of the victims reported that loose change or cash were stolen and one victim reported that her wallet was missing.
With the help of the community, the police were able to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle entering the area at approximately 3:00am. The vehicle was determined to be a white 4-door BMW sedan. There were at least three suspects in the vehicle at the time of the thefts but their identities were concealed by their clothing.
The Middletown Police encourage the public to keep personal or valuable items out of their vehicles and report any suspicious activity in their area.
We are working with law enforcement agencies from neighboring communities that were affected by similar events.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit at 860-638-4140.
