News Release - Car v Pole on Reservoir Rd

On April 13, 2024 at approximately 12:48pm, Middletown Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle versus utility pole collision in the area of 280 Reservoir Road, just north of Training Hill Road.

On arrival, officers located an overturned 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the roadway which was tangled in live electrical wires. The vehicle’s collision with the utility pole caused the pole to break and the wires to come down.

The operator remained trapped in the vehicle due to the live power lines. Eversource Electric responded and turned off the power to the area. The operator was successfully extricated by South District Fire Personnel and quickly transported to Hartford Hospital by Hunter’s Ambulance. He remains in stable condition.

The operator was subsequently identified as 35-year-old Cinque Williams from Meriden, CT.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the Middletown Police Traffic Division. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Ofc E. Sanford at 860-638-4063.
