Vivian Montgomery, renowned keyboardist, will be brought to Middletown's Wadsworth Mansion performing location, 421 Wadsworth St. by the Greater Middletown Concert Association on Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. The concert will feature Montgomery on harpsichord and accordion along with two outstanding performers, Molly Yukon McQuire, mezzo soprano, and Sylvia Schwartz, violinist and viola da gamba soloist. The program will span 400 years of music from 1600 to 2000 and is entitled "Songs, Sinfonias, and Sonatas Against the Odds." Montgomery grew up in Middletown beginning her musical studies with teachers at the Hartford Conservatory of Music and the Yale School of Music. She graduated her high school years at the Hammonasett School in Madison, Connecticut. Her performances have been hailed nationally and internationally. Also, Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" opera will be brought to Middletown on Saturday, June 1, by the Greater Middletown Concert Association. It will be held at the Santo Fragilio Performing Arts Center, 100 LaRosa Lane. The opera will be performed by the Connecticut Lyric Opera and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.
