News Release - Car v Motorcycle on Route 9 South

On April 17, 2024 at approximately 3:25pm, Middletown Officers were dispatched to a car versus motorcycle collision on Route 9 South at the Washington Street exit.

On arrival, Officers determined that a Harley Davidson motorcycle had collided with a Chevrolet Express van in the southbound lane. The operator of the motorcycle had a laceration to her head and was quickly transported to Hartford Hospital where she is in stable condition. The driver of the Chevrolet van was not injured in the collision.

Route 9 South was temporarily closed while the Middletown Police Traffic Division investigated the collision. Preliminary details suggest that the operator of the motorcycle had been traveling northbound on Route 9 when she attempted to turn left (west) onto Washington Street. She subsequently collided with the side of the Chevrolet van that was traveling southbound.

Route 9 has been reopened but this case remains an active investigation. Anyone with information on the collision is encouraged to contact Ofc J. Zadjura at 860-638-4063.

The names of the operators are not being released at this time.
