News Release - Town & Country Arrest (Amended)


Continuation from a March 12, 2024 press release involving an investigation into an assault of a 2-year-old child that was under the care of 48-year-old Kristie Kovarcik who was a teacher at the Town & Country Early Learning Center (195 South Main Street, Middletown) that began on January 12, 2024.

Further investigation into the January 12, 2024 incident by the Middletown Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit revealed several occasions when Kristie Kovarcik and 32-year-old Onima Rahman, who were employed as teachers at the daycare, were observed through surveillance video mishandling other 2 year-old children under their care. Both teachers were relieved of their positions by Town & Country Administration as soon as this information was obtained by Detectives. 

Onima Rahman (32) was arrested by warrant on 8/22/24 and charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree.  She appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on 8/22.

Kristie Kovarcik (48) turned herself into the Middletown Police on 8/30/24 and was charged with three counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor and three counts of Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree.  Kovarcik was held in lieu of $30,000 in bonds and presented in Middlesex Superior Court on 8/30.
