News Release - Bielefield School Incident

On September 3, 2024 at approximately hours 10:49am, Middletown Police Officers were called to Bielefield Elementary School (70 Maynard Street) for the report of a student claiming to have a firearm in his/her backpack.

Officers placed the school in brief lockdown for the safety of the students and staff. They quickly determined that the student possessed a facsimile firearm and the lockdown was lifted.

The matter is being handled by the Middletown Public Schools and there is no public safety concern at this time.
