FRANK VARELA TRIO'S SUPERB JAZZ IN MIDDLETOWN OCTOBER 8, Wadsworth Mansion 

A  jazz concert featuring the "Frank Varela Trio" will come to Middletown on Tuesday, October 8, at 7 p.m. It will be held at Middletown's Wadsworth Mansion, 421 Wadsworth Street. This concert begins the 2024-2025 Season of the Greater Middletown Concert Association. The performance is open to the general public to attend. Tickets may now be purchased by calling 860 918-8971.

Frank Varela, himself, is an accomplished guitar player and composer known throughout New England and beyond. His playing and composition has been most favorably reviewed in the nationally renowned "Jazz Improv" Magazine, He has also performed and recorded with such greats as Jimmy McGriff, Max Roach, Tony Trischka, Larry Coryell, Windham Hill grammy winner and  violinist Daro Anger.. He was recently selected as a talent showcase with the Hartford Jazz Orchestra. He continues to play with various ensembles in which he shows his guitar prowess and versatility in many genres of music.  

Steve Bulmer is the bassist of the trio. He plays the upright bass and the electric bass.  Noted for his international credits he has performed around the world. His concerts have included many enthusiastic jazz listeners.

Tom Devino, drummer, will be the 3rd member of the trio. He has been extensively performing and recording music for over 40 years. He is currently the full time drummer of the Hartford Jazz Orchestra. His resume also includes performances with trumpeter Clark Terry, singer actress Petula Clark, singer actor Robert Davi and Lou Marini, to name a few. In addition to being a jazz drummer, Tom performs as a percussionist with various symphonies.
