Updated News Release - "Swatting" Incident at MHS

On October 2, 2024 at approximately 2:33pm, the Middletown Police Department received information through a third party that an anonymous person was threatening the safety of those inside the Middletown High School (200 Larosa Lane). The High School was immediately placed in lockdown and area schools were advised to shelter in place.

The Middletown Police Department takes the safety of all students and faculty very seriously and responded immediately. Officers conducted a methodical search of the school and escorted everyone from the building.

After investigation, it was determined that this was a “swatting” call aimed at disrupting the schools and similar to recent threats made in other areas of the state. There is no current threat to public safety.

The case remains under investigation and the public will be updated if we obtain any information which might identify the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this “swatting” incident is encouraged to contact the Middletown Police Department at 860-638-4000.
