News Release - Police Activity at Harbor Park

On February 25, 2025 at approximately 7:41pm Middletown Police Officers were called to the area of Harbor Park after receiving information that someone drove their vehicle into the Connecticut River. The vehicle was believed to have entered the water on the north side of the park. Middletown Fire personnel also responded and both agencies began a coordinated effort using personnel and drones.

Officers and Firefighters were ultimately unable to locate a vehicle in the water as reported. Search and rescue efforts were suspended due to poor lighting conditions and for personnel safety. The Middletown Police Department Dive Team will resume search and recovery efforts in the morning (February 26, 2025).  

There is no public safety threat at this time and no confirmation anyone was injured during this call for service. The public will be updated if there are any updates to the investigation.
