News Release - Fatal MVA on Washington St. at High St. 

On March 11, 2025 at approximately 9:48pm Middletown Officers responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Washington Street in the area of High Street.

On arrival, Officers located a male in the roadway with serious physical injuries and a grey Toyota Camry with front end damage. Middletown Fire and Hunters Ambulance personnel responded. The pedestrian was quickly transported to Middlesex Hospital but tragically he died from his injuries. The operator of the Toyota had minor, non-life threatening injuries from the collision but he was also transported to Middlesex Hospital.  

The preliminary investigation suggests that the Toyota was traveling westbound on Washington Street in the right travel lane. The pedestrian appeared to be walking southbound and crossing Washington Street at the High Street crosswalk. The Toyota and pedestrian then collided in the intersection.   

This collision is being investigated by the Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Division. Anyone with information on the collision is encouraged to contact Ofc E. Sanford at 860-638-4061.

The names of the involved parties are not being released at this time.
