News Release - Stabbing Investigation on Pearl Street


On May 19, 2025 at approximately 9:11pm, Middletown Officers were called to the area of 188 Pearl Street for the report of an assault. It was determined that Middletown Fire personnel had initially responded to the area for a medical call involving a head injury but during their assessment it was determined that the male appeared to have been stabbed on the top of his head.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Trenton Hoggard of Middletown. Hoggard was transported to Hartford Hospital for non-life threatening lacerations to his head.

Hoggard told police that he was walking on Grand Street when an unknown person came up behind him and stabbed him on the top of his head. Hoggard felt himself get stabbed a second time and ran south on Pearl Street. He stopped in the area of 188 Pearl Street and a local resident called 911.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information on this assault is encouraged to contact Ofc M. Aresco of the Middletown Police Patrol Division at 860-638-4000; extension 6318.

This is believed to be an isolated incident with no known public safety concerns.
