News Release - Vehicle into the CT River

On Saturday, October 11, 2025 just before 7:30am, Middletown Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle that drove into the Connecticut River just off of Harbor Drive.  The Middletown Fire Department Dive Team, with the assistance of the Middletown Police Department Dive Team, was able to recover the body of a deceased male from the submerged vehicle.

The deceased male was later identified as 51-year-old Gautam Ramesh Mirchandani of Stamford, CT. Mirchandani’s vehicle was also recovered from the river. 

This tragic incident is being investigated by the Middletown Police Department Major Investigations Unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Det. D. Semper at 860-638-4143.
