Liberty Street Assault Arrest
On February 6, 2026 at about 11:41am Middletown Police Patrol Officers responded to the area of 8 Liberty Street for a report of a man hitting another man with a bat. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located one victim with multiple injuries. The victim was eventually transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Officers were able to determine that he sustained his injuries after being struck with an aluminum baseball bat which was recovered.
Officers promptly arrested the accused: German A Cartagena Rosado (64) and charged him with the following: Assault of an Elderly Person in the 1st Degree (53a-59a), Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (53-206), Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree (53a-63), and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree (53a-181). At the time of this release, Cartagena Rosado was being held on a $500,000 bond and will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on 2/9/26.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
An arrest is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
