[ARCHIVED] 2023 Earth Day Extravaganza

The City of Middletown in collaboration with Reboot Eco and The Jonah Center for Earth & Art is excited to announce its annual Earth Day Extravaganza, taking place on April 22nd, 2023, at Harbor Park. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than last year, with a wide range of activities, entertainment, and educational opportunities for all ages.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Earth Day Extravaganza will feature a variety of eco-friendly vendors and local non profit organizations. Attendees can learn about recycling, composting, pollinators, efficient energy use, environmental rights, sustainable horticulture, and many ways to Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Refill and Repair.

The event will also include speakers and live music, with a welcome from Mayor Florsheim and local legislators.  We are thrilled to host Maya van Rossum, Author and Founder of the Green Amendment for the Generations, on the event stage.  Tom Christopher will also be present to speak about Sustainable, Environmentally Beneficial Lawns. Musical and artistic performances include Time of Day Band, and an improvisatory musical installation at the pedestrian tunnel to Harbor Park.

Kids can get in on the action too, with interactive activities designed to teach them about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting our planet, as well as a Drag Artist Story Hour with ASL interpretation organized by Middletown Pride.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase, brought to you by local businesses Eli Cannon’s, Soulfully Vegan, Perkatory Coffee, and Fruitful Ascension Wellness.

Downtown parking will be free for the day, and participants are asked to park downtown and use the pedestrian tunnel from Melilli Plaza to access Harbor Park.

The Earth Day Extravaganza is free and open to the public. The event will run from 12-3 PM on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, at Harbor Park in Middletown, CT.  For more information, visit our website at https://bit.ly/mtearth23.
