Dear Parents & Residents of Middletown,
In light of the horrific tragedy that occurred at a Catholic elementary school in Minnesota this afternoon we wanted to take a moment to offer reassurance to our community by reviewing the safety precautions that have been put in place to keep our students safe as they return to school tomorrow.
As students arrive for their first day of the new school year - our Police Department will have a visible presence at all of our schools. You can expect to see officers tomorrow, Friday, and continuing into next week—as students, families, and staff return for the new school year.
We are deeply saddened by this continuation of senseless violence in our country. Please know that we are committed to doing everything in our power to prevent such tragedies here at home.
The safety of our students, teachers, and families will always be our top priority, and we will continue to proactively strengthen and advocate for safety across our community at all times.
Together we can work to make sure that everyone has a happy, healthy, and safe school year.
Thank you.
Mayor Gene Nocera & Police Chief Erik Costa
