Reducing Food Waste is BEST !

Food waste accounts for over 30% of all of our trash. EPA estimates that 25% of the food we buy is thrown away before it gets eaten.  An average, families spend $1300-$2300 a year on wasted food. Trash disposal contributes to climate change, creates pollution, wastes valuable resources and is expensive.

It is best to REDUCE food waste first, then compost if you can, or bring your food scraps to a drop-off location. Check out our Reduce Food Waste infographic for some great ideas to reduce your food waste. Try one idea at a time, so it doesn't get overwhelming. You may find, over time, you can reduce your food waste and you can save yourself money too!
