Streets and Highways

Middletown's Highway Department is responsible for maintaining 204 miles of streets.   The Highway Department is located at 485 Washington Street.   Crews are responsible for maintaining roads, bulk waste collection, fall leaf pick up, snow removal, Christmas tree collection, and storm water systems.

Winter snow removal and sand: During the winter months, sand is available to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in small quantities from the Highway Garage at 485 Washington Street.  Residents may bring a bucket to fill.  

Snow Shoveling Policy -  Section 262-19 of the City of Middletown Code of Ordinances requires that property owners or occupants clear sidewalks WITHIN 24 HOURS after a weather-related event ends.
